What Is Microblading?
Microblading, also known as 3D eyebrow embroidery, is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure that is applied using a specialist hand-tool which holds disposable micro blades to re-shape the eyebrow. It is ideal for creating a full, and realistic brow and is becoming an increasingly popular method of semi-permanent makeup.
How does it work?
During the treatment, after a brow consultation, the new brow shape outline is penciled on. We work together to determine a shape you are comfortable with. The brow area is numbed and then pigment is implanted into the skin using very tiny feathered strokes. We determine the pigment colour based on your natural brow shade, hair colour, skin tone and eye colour. These strokes are built up into the new shape, and the area gradually made denser with multiple tiny strokes. The required pigment is deposited into the superficial dermis of the skin with the disposable micro blade, which allows us to create bespoke, crisp hair strokes which look like natural eyebrow hair.
How long does it last?
1-2 years, depending on how quickly your skin rejuvenates, any medications you are on and the age of your skin. After this period of time, a colour boost may be required.
Does it hurt?
Like many semi-permanent procedures, microblading will require a topical anaesthetic, which can be topped up throughout the procedure making it relatively painless. Most clients refer to the sensation similar to threading or waxing.
How does it differ from eyebrow tattooing?
Microblading differs from the conventional eyebrow tattooing by the very fact that it is a manual procedure. When using a hand held micro blade, the colour is deposited closer to the surface than when a machine is used, leaving very fine and crisp hair strokes which are not implanted as deeply into the skin. The results are much more realistic and natural. It is also semi-permanent and not a life permanent procedure.
